Pure Horizon uses a carefully maintained, multi-stage purification system to produce 0–1 ppm pure water for professional reach-and-wash window cleaning.
Reverse osmosis water is central to the way Pure Horizon cleans windows, frames and sills. Instead of finishing the glass with detergent and a squeegee, we brush the surfaces with purified water, rinse them thoroughly and allow them to dry naturally.
Ordinary tap water contains dissolved minerals. If those minerals remain on the glass as the water evaporates, they can leave visible deposits. Our purification process reduces this mineral content to a target reading of 0–1 parts per million, helping the final rinse dry without the residue associated with untreated tap water.
How We Produce Reverse Osmosis Water
Pure Horizon produces its pure water in-house through a sequence of treatment stages. Each stage has a different purpose, from protecting the main membrane against scale and chlorine to removing the final traces of dissolved material before the water is used.
The five-stage purification process
- Water softening: calcium and magnesium are reduced before the water reaches the filters, helping to limit scale and protect the system.
- Sediment and carbon pre-filtration: particles such as grit and rust are filtered out, while the carbon stage reduces chlorine that could affect the reverse-osmosis membrane.
- Reverse osmosis: boosted pressure moves the prepared water across a semi-permeable membrane, separating the great majority of dissolved material from the product water.
- De-ionisation: DI resin polishes the RO water by removing the small amount of ionic material that remains, bringing it down to the target 0–1 ppm range.
- UV treatment: a UV stage helps control microbial growth as part of the maintained production and storage system.
Checking the Water Before It Is Used
Producing pure water is not simply a matter of installing filters and forgetting about them. The system must be monitored, and consumable stages such as filters and DI resin need to be replaced when their performance declines. Pure Horizon checks the total dissolved solids reading so the water being used remains within the intended range.
A low reading confirms that very little dissolved material remains in the finished water. It also provides an early warning when a filter, membrane or resin stage needs attention, helping us maintain consistent water quality rather than relying on appearance alone.
Pure water supports the finish, but effective cleaning still depends on careful brushing, thorough rinsing and properly maintained equipment.
Why Pure Water Works for Window Cleaning
During a reach-and-wash clean, the water-fed brush loosens dirt from the glass and surrounding frames. The purified water then carries the released contamination away during the rinse. Because the final rinse contains virtually none of the minerals found in ordinary tap water, it can be left to dry naturally without a detergent film or mineral spotting.
This method also allows the glass, frames and accessible sills to be worked from ground level with extendable water-fed poles. It reduces the need for routine ladder work and lets the operator rinse the complete window area rather than concentrating only on the glass face.
On a regular maintenance clean, purified water normally removes the need for detergent on the windows. Heavier contamination, construction residue or unsuitable surface deposits may still require a separate assessment and an appropriate specialist method.
