Professional Render Cleaning in Suffolk
Based in Stowmarket, Pure Horizon provides professional render cleaning in Suffolk for homes, rental properties and commercial premises. We clean suitable K Rend, monocouche, silicone, acrylic, painted and traditional rendered finishes using low-pressure softwashing methods selected for the surface.
After assessing the render and staining, we may use a controlled sodium hypochlorite (SH) treatment for immediate organic stain removal or a professional DDAC- or BAC50-based biocide for a gentler or longer-acting treatment. Surfactants and, where appropriate, scent maskers support controlled application. Products, dilution and rinsing are selected for each property—not every chemical is used on every job.
Specialist Render Cleaning, Properly Assessed
Rendered walls can develop green, red and black organic staining as algae, mould, lichen and atmospheric soiling settle into textured or porous finishes. The correct approach depends on whether the surface is K Rend, monocouche, silicone, acrylic, painted or traditional render, along with its age, condition and previous coatings.
We inspect visible cracks, hollow or loose areas, staining type, access and surrounding property before recommending treatment. Low pressure is central to our approach: cleaning should improve appearance without forcing water behind the finish or unnecessarily eroding the surface. Permanent discolouration, oxidation, rust, efflorescence or failed coatings may need separate specialist work, which we explain before you book.

Surface-Specific Treatments
Cleaning products, concentrations, contact times and rinsing are selected for the render type, condition and contamination. Not every treatment is suitable for every wall.
Clear Quotes & Evidence
Your quotation identifies the walls and treatment included, any access requirements and realistic limitations. We can also provide before-and-after photographs.
How We Softwash Render Safely
Every render clean starts with an assessment of the finish, staining, visible defects, access and surrounding areas. Depending on the surface and contamination, we may use a controlled sodium hypochlorite (SH) softwash for prompt organic stain removal or a slower-acting professional biocide.
Surfactants help the solution wet and cling evenly to vertical surfaces. A scent masker may be added where appropriate to reduce odour, but it does not neutralise SH or change the required safety controls. DDAC (didecyldimethylammonium chloride) and benzalkonium chloride products, sometimes supplied as BAC50 concentrate, are quaternary-ammonium biocides used only where suitable and in accordance with their product instructions. Not every chemical is used on every job.
Survey, Test & Treatment Plan
We identify the render type and staining, check visible cracks, loose or hollow areas and previous coatings, then test an inconspicuous area where appropriate.
Protect People, Plants & Property
Windows and doors are closed, nearby plants and sensitive surfaces are protected, and runoff and access are managed before treatment begins.
Apply the Matched Softwash
The selected treatment is applied at a controlled strength and contact time. Gentle agitation or repeat application is used only where appropriate for the surface.
Controlled Rinse & Final Check
Where the chosen product and surface require it, the wall is rinsed at low pressure. We check the result, tidy the work area and can provide completion photographs.
Professional Render Cleaning Made Simple
From your first enquiry to the final check, we explain the recommended method, what is included and any realistic limitations. Your quotation reflects the wall area, render type, contamination, access and property-protection requirements.
Send Photos & Details
Contact us online, by telephone, email or WhatsApp. Send your postcode and clear photographs of each affected wall, the surrounding access and any areas of particular concern.
Render Assessment & Quote
We assess the render type, condition, staining, access and nearby sensitive areas. Where photographs are not enough, we arrange a site visit before issuing a clear, no-obligation quotation.
Prepare & Protect
Before treatment, we confirm access and water requirements, ask for windows and doors to be closed and protect nearby plants, glazing, metals and other sensitive surfaces.
Complete the Softwash
We apply the agreed low-pressure treatment using controlled products, strengths and contact times, with gentle agitation or rinsing where suitable.
Final Check & Care Advice
We inspect the completed work, tidy the area and explain whether any gradual treatment will continue working over time. Visible defects noticed during cleaning are reported, but this is not a structural survey.
Render Cleaning & Softwashing FAQs
Answers to common questions about render cleaning, softwashing, sodium hypochlorite, surfactants, scent maskers, professional biocides, surface suitability, prices and Suffolk coverage.
Your quotation confirms the walls, treatment and rinsing included. A typical service covers an initial assessment, protection of nearby areas, low-pressure application of the selected cleaning solution, controlled agitation or rinsing where appropriate, a final check and tidy-up. Repairs, repainting and specialist stain removal are separate unless specifically quoted.
We assess K Rend, monocouche, silicone, acrylic, painted and traditional rendered finishes individually. Suitability depends on age, condition, previous coatings, visible defects and the manufacturer’s guidance. A test area may be completed where appropriate.
Green and red staining is commonly associated with algae and other biological growth, while black marks may include mould, lichen, pollution or moisture-related soiling. Colour alone does not prove the cause, so we assess the wall before choosing treatment.
We do not routinely use aggressive pressure washing on render. High pressure can erode textured finishes, disturb coatings or drive water into defects. Our normal approach uses controlled low-pressure application, appropriate chemistry and gentle rinsing where required.
Softwashing uses low-pressure application of a cleaning solution chosen to treat organic growth and staining without relying on force. The product, strength, contact time, agitation and rinsing are adjusted for the surface and condition.
A controlled sodium hypochlorite, or SH, solution may be used where the render and organic staining are suitable. It is not automatically used on every wall. Concentration, contact time, protection and rinsing are determined by the assessment and product instructions.
A compatible surfactant helps a solution spread, wet and cling more evenly on a vertical wall. A scent masker may reduce the perceived chlorine odour during suitable SH work, but it does not neutralise the chemical or alter the required safety controls.
DDAC is didecyldimethylammonium chloride. BAC refers to benzalkonium chloride, which may be supplied as a 50% concentrate known as BAC50. These quaternary-ammonium biocides can provide a slower-acting treatment for suitable organic growth. We use professional products only where appropriate and according to their labels.
No. The treatment is selected for the render type, condition, staining and surroundings. Some jobs need an SH softwash, some suit a DDAC- or benzalkonium-chloride-based biocide, and others may need a different specialist approach or no chemical treatment at all.
Organic staining often improves substantially, but no responsible cleaner can promise that every mark will disappear. Rust, efflorescence, mineral deposits, oxidation, paint failure, shadowing and deeply embedded staining may remain or require separate specialist treatment.
We assess nearby plants, glazing, metals, paving and neighbouring property before work begins. Protection may include pre-wetting, covering or moving sensitive items, controlled application, managed runoff and thorough rinsing where the treatment requires it.
These are not the same as organic growth and may require a separate product, test area or specialist repair. We identify visible non-organic staining during the assessment and explain whether it is included, optional or outside our service.
We do not repair structural defects as part of standard render cleaning. Cracked, hollow, loose, blown or delaminating render may need repair before cleaning. We will explain visible concerns and may decline or limit treatment where proceeding could worsen damage.
Price depends on the wall area, render type, level and type of staining, access, protection requirements and treatment selected. Send your postcode and clear photographs for an initial assessment and a free, no-obligation quotation.
Timescale depends on the property and treatment. An SH softwash can give a prompt visual improvement, while some professional biocides work progressively after application. We explain the expected process and timescale before you book.
There is no fixed schedule. Aspect, shade, nearby trees, moisture, local environment, render texture and customer preference all affect regrowth. We recommend an appropriate maintenance interval after assessing the property rather than prescribing the same frequency for every wall.
